Help Wanted:

A community is only as vibrant and active as its members. We can only suceed, and provide great services, if you help. Below are some current positions that we’d like to see filled. If you’d like to help, leave a reply in the forums.

Php News Editors:

We’re looking for editors to help aggregate content from around the php community. Being a news editor doesn’t mean a lot of work, just pick a place to “watch” from the list, and when you see something interesting, do a quick write up with links to the source.

  1. php-dev and php-cvs mailing lists (Php “coming soon” information)
  2. php-general and php-windows mailing lists (general php problems and solutions)
  3. php-planet (general aggregation of php developer blogs - this might be a big job and may need several editors)
  4. other php communities (phpbuilder, phpfreaks and other similiar php community sites/forums)
  5. irc channels
  6. podcasts
  7. individual blogs

Design: DONE
PhpWomen is currently having a logo contest - please submit your work before the October 31st deadline. After the voting period when the logo is decided on, we’ll be needing new forum and blog themes to match the logo. Stay tuned.

Although the purple design went live in May of 2007, several comments and enhancement requests have been received (you can see them on this thread). Amanda and melaniemad have very kindly volunteered to help with the refinements, and KathyReid is currently getting a dev site set up so we can play around with enhancements :)

To do:

  1. Add DevChix logo and Affiliates area to sidebar DONE
  2. Set up Development area DONE - sandbox.phpwomen.org set up. PM KathyReid or lig for more info
  3. Set up WordPress and FUDForum in sandbox

Additional Code Integration:

  1. map - using google api or other method to allow “pins” so we can see where members are located
  2. calendar - events calendar (optionally with birthdays from forums :)
  3. integrate user systems of blog and forum (this would be a big job)

Exclusive Content:

We’re looking for people to write articles just for phpwomen. These wouldn’t be reposted but fresh information just for the members here. If you have an article or a series of articles in mind feel free to post about it in the forums.
