A reliable, self-motivated, second developer (as a full-time junior PHP developer) is sought to help me at a dating website (there is some adult content, and ideas, so an open mind is required), with the advantages of working from home most of the time. We are a rapidly growing business and we are currently looking towards opening up our sites throughout the Europe and the USA for another huge growth spurt.

I'm looking for someone to learn - a lot - and to do things the right way - object oriented PHP code, and well tested. Technologies required - in increasing order: PHP5, XHTML, CSS & JS/Ajax. At least some idea about use of UTF8/I18N, Zend Framework/MVC, Linux and Subversion is also very useful to get up to speed quickly.

It's interesting work to improve the site and add functionality - both front and back-end, in a relaxed atmosphere, and after a few weeks getting up to speed, you'll be in the place you like best - your home - or coffee shop, or park, or wherever you can work best (and have access to your own copy of the site to work on). We generally work remotely and chat over Skype, or Jabber, and so we can spend time concentrating on delivering the best that we can produce - but know that help is only a call away if required.

Good PHP5 (OOP, Zend Framework, SVN and I18N) are needed, but a commitment towards quality software engineering and a knowledge of the basics of OOP based PHP is more important than current expertise - I can teach you a lot, but if you aren't interested in writing good software that will be used by thousands of people a day, I don't want to spend time with you. If you do have that hunger for new knowledge - learning for the sheer joy of improving your abilities and investigating technologies, programming languages and fields outside the regular day to day work - even just for fun - then you're the kind of smart developer I want to show how to get even better.

Much (probably most) of the time will be spent writing PHP, some front end UI engineering with Javascript and CSS can also play a significant part, as well as taking some of the inevitable 'grunt work' jobs from me, like generating mails for our members.

Although the job is working at home, being within 'day-trip range' of the Watford/WD6/NW-London area is important to allow for job interviews/occasional face to face meetings & early training. If you can't get to Borehamwood, or High Wycombe in 90 mins or less - then this isn't for you. If, on the other hand, you like waking up after when most people are just getting to work, solving some really neat little problems that will usually be running live within the week, and working on a website that gets millions of hits per day and regular national press coverage (TV, radio and press) - then we can talk.

Salary range 18-30K+ as you would deserve.

CV's with URLs of existing sites and some sample source code (PHP5 preferred). The short version to getting to the next step - impress me.
